27/Apr/2006: Saltash trapped 'medium' mosquito numbers with a catch of 51, dominated by 44 Culex annulirostris. Heatherbrae trapped 'high' numbers (144), with 131 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

24/Apr/2006: There was an isolate of Edge Hill virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Gan Gan on 6/Apr/2006.

13/Apr/2006: There was an isolate of Stratford virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Heatherbrae on 14/Mar/2006.

6/Apr/2006: Mosquito populations continue to decline, with mainly 'medium' collections. Gan Gan trapped 71 mosquitoes, with 30 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash yielded 84, with 37 Culex annulirostris. Medowie produced a catch of 69, with 28 Culex annulirostris. Karuah had 'low' numbers. Heatherbrae had a partial trap failure and collected 80 mosquitoes, with 44 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside collected 52 mosquitoes, dominated by 26 Culex annulirostris.

28/Mar/2006: Mosquito numbers continue to drop. Saltash trapped 'medium' numbers (81), with 43 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah trapped 'high' numbers (370), with 244 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had a 'high' collection (687), with 374 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside produced a 'high' catch of 133 mosquitoes, with 86 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan and Medowie both had 'low' collections.

27/Mar/2006: There was one Ross River virus isolate made from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped 14/Mar/2006 at Heatherbrae.

23/Mar/2006: There was one Ross River virus isolate made from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped 14/Mar/2006 at Karuah.

22/Mar/2006: Mosquito numbers are well down upon the previous week. Gan Gan trapped 'medium' numbers (97), with 69 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash also had 'medium' numbers (73), with 43 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie produced a 'high' catch of 175, with 135 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah also had a 'high' collection (366), with 209 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae caught 'very high' numbers (1,804), with 1,056 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside had a 'high' catch of 362, with 301 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

14/Mar/2006: Mosquito numbers were well up due to recent hatching of Ochlerotatus vigilax which dominated all the collections. Gan Gan collected 'high' numbers (271), with 188 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash also yielded a 'high' catch of 928, with 795 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie produced 'very high' numbers (1,913), with 1,812 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah had a 'very high' collection of 1,526, with 1,195 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae caught an astonishing 8,259 mosquitoes, with 5,565 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside likewise produced a 'very high' catch (1,680), with 1,596 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

14/Mar/2006: There were three isolate made today. Two were from Heatherbrae, one of Ross River virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped 8/Mar/2006, the second was Stratford virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped 21/Feb/2006. The third isolate was of Barmah Forest virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped 8/Mar/2006.

10/Mar/2006: There was one Stratford virus isolate from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Heatherbrae on 28/Feb.

8/Mar/2006: Mosquito numbers continue to decline, although were 'high' from most sites. Gan Gan trapped 'medium' numbers (65), with 20 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash numbers were 'high' (145), with 102 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie also trapped 145 mosquitoes ('high'), with 141 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah produced a 'high' catch of 237, with 194 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heathbrae produced a 'very high' catch of 1,295 mosquitoes, with 907 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside also had 'high' numbers (221), with 203 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

7/Mar/2006: There was two isolates from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped on 28/Feb at Karua, one each of Barmah Forest virus and Ross River virus.

6/Mar/2006: There was two isolates of Stratford virus from mosquitoes trapped on 14/Feb at Heatherbrae, one each from Ochlerotatus procax and Ochlerotatus vigilax.

2/Mar/2006: There was one isolate of Stratford virus from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped on 14/Feb at Saltash.

28/Feb/2006: Overall mosquito numbers were down with the cooler night. Gan Gan trapped 'medium' numbers (55), with 21 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash also produced a 'medium' catch, collecting 89 mosquitoes, dominated by 54 Ochlerotatus vigilax. The 'medium' collections continued with 84 mosquitoes produced at Medowie, including 72 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah and Heatherbrae trapped 'high' numbers, collecting 425 and 688 mosquitoes respectively, and included 422 and 353 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside also had a 'high' catch (179), with 94 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

28/Feb/2006: There were 8RRV, 1BFV and one Edge Hill virus isolate identified this week. The Edge Hill virus was isolated from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Karuah on 7/Feb. Lakeside produced 2RRV from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped on 14/Feb. Heatherbrae yielded the remaining isolates from the 21/Feb and included 5RRV from Ochlerotatus vigilax, 1RRV each from Culex sitiens and Ochlerotatus procax, and 1BFV from Ochlerotatus vigilax.  

21/Feb/2006: Mosquito numbers are mostly down upon the previous week. Gan Gan trapped 'low' numbers. Saltash trapped 'high' numbers (229), with 207 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie produced 'high' numbers (294), with 270 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah also had a 'high' collection, trapping 537 mosquitoes, including 490 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae had the only 'very high' collection this week, trapping 3,110 mosquitoes, with 2,432 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

21/Feb/2006: There was another BFV isolate, this was from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Heatherbrae on 14/Feb.

19/Feb/2006: There was another BFV isolate, this was from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped at Heatherbrae on 7/Feb.

14/Feb/2006: Mosquito numbers are well up with the Ochlerotatus vigilax breeding following the spring tides. Gan Gan trapped 'high' numbers (213), with 165 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash had a 'high' collection of 852, with 844 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie produced a 'very high' catch of 2,075, with 2,045 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah produced 'very high' numbers (2,200), with 2,116 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'very high' numbers, catching 2,373 mosquitoes, including 2,023 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside had the first 'very high' catch trapping 1,929 mosquitoes and was strongly dominated by 1,896 Ochlerotatus vigilax. A collection from Warner's Bay produced 'low' numbers.

16/Feb/2006: There were even more BFV isolates; another five. These were all from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped on 7/Feb/2006 and included three from Karuah and one each from Heatherbrae and Lakeside.

10/Feb/2006: There were three BFV isolates; two were isolated from Ochlerotatus vigilax trapped from Karuah, one each from mosquitoes collected on the 24/Jan and 31/Jan. The other BFV isolate was from Ochlerotatus procax trapped at Heatherbrae on 31/Jan. 

7/Feb/2006: Mosquito numbers were down this week at most sites. Gan Gan produced a 'medium' catch (70), with 29 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash had 'high' numbers (196), with 180 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'medium' (85) mosquito numbers, with 80 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah yielded 'very high' numbers (1,960) with the vast majority being Ochlerotatus vigilax (1,881). Heatherbrae had a 'very high' trap of 1,608, with 845 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside trapped 'high' numbers (148), with 114 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

7/Feb/2006: There were three arboviral isolates; Barmah Forest virus & Stratford virus were isolated from Ochlerotatus procax trapped at Heatherbrae on 31/Jan and there was one Ross River virus also from Ochlerotatus vigilax, which was trapped on 24/Jan/2006. 

31/Jan/2006: A 'high' collection of 112 mosquitoes was made at Gan Gan and included 43 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash also produced a 'high' catch, collecting 234 mosquitoes, including 187 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'low' numbers. Karuah yielded 'high' numbers (856), with 770 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae had a 'very high' trap of 2,254, with 1,093 Ochlerotatus procax. Lakeside trapped 'high' numbers (118), with 94 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

24/Jan/2006: Gan Gan collected 'high' numbers (188), with 136 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash also produced a 'high' catch, collecting 586 mosquitoes, including 536 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded lower numbers than the previous two sites, producing 'medium' numbers (97), dominated by 78 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah trapped 'very high' numbers (1,092) with 1,037 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'very high' numbers trapping 2,344 mosquitoes, with 1,260 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside trapped 'high' numbers (263), with 241 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

17/Jan/2006: Collections of Ochlerotatus vigilax were up following the new year spring tides and dominated all collections. Gan Gan collected a 'high' catch of 513, with 460 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash had a 'very high' trap of 1,440, with 1,396 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah had the highest catch of the season, trapping 'very high' numbers 6,438, with 6,353 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae produced a 'very high' catch of 1,480, with 941 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside yielded a 'medium' catch of 80, including 65 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

10/Jan/2006: Gan Gan had a 'high' collection of 182, dominated by 118 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash produced a 'high' catch (278), with 241 Ochlerotatus vigilax. 'High' numbers (102) were also yielded at Medowie, with 83 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah trapped 'very high' numbers (1,035), with 960 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'very high' numbers (1,324), with 867 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Lakeside trapped 154 mosquitoes ('high' numbers) with 139 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

20/Dec/2005: Gan Gan had 'medium' numbers (56), with 34 Coquillettidia linealis. Karuah had a 'high' collection of 102, with 79 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae numbers continue to drop with 'high' numbers (545) this week, dominated by 233 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash, Medowie, Lakeside and Fern Bay trapped 'low' numbers.

13/Dec/2005: Saltash yielded a 'high' collection of 100 mosquitoes, dominated by 70 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie and Lakeside trapped 'low' numbers. Karuah produced a 'high' catch of 464 mosquitoes, dominated by 417 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae trapped 'very high' numbers, collecting 1,528 mosquitoes including 785 Coquillettidia linealis and 480 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

6/Dec/2005: Gan Gan trapped 'medium' numbers (97), with 49 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash produced 'high' numbers (107), with 40 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded a 'medium' catch of 92, with 75 Coquillettidia linealis. Karuah collected 'high' densites, with a total of 608 mosquitoes, dominated by 558 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae had the largest collection of the season to date, with 'very high' numbers (2,720), including 1,889 Coquillettidia linealis. Lakeside and Fern Bay trapped 'low' numbers.

29/Nov/2005: Mosquito numbers are down this week with the cooler weather and only Karuah and Heatherbrae had 'high' numbers. Karuah trapped 163 mosquitoes with 155 Ochlerotatus vigilax, while Heatherbrae collected 165, with 51 Coquillettidia linealis. Gan Gan produced 'medium' numbers (78), with 58 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash and Medowie both had 'low' collections.

22/Nov/2005: Gan Gan had a 'medium' collection of 96 mosquitoes, dominated by 47 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash also had 'medium' numbers (51), with 14 Coquillettidia linealis.   Karuah continued with the 'medium' collections (79), although Ochlerotatus vigilax (66) was the most common species. Heatherbrae had 'high' numbers, with a total of 824 mosquitoes, dominated by 496 Coquillettidia linealis. Medowie, Lakeside and Fern Bay trapped 'low' mosquito numbers.

15/Nov/2005: Gan Gan trapped 'high' mosquito numbers with a total of 133, dominated by 62 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash also had a 'high' collection (107 mosquitoes), although Ochlerotatus vigilax (66) was the most common species. A 'high' catch of 187 was made from Karuah with 143 Ochlerotatus vigilax. As usual, Heatherbrae had the highest collection with a total of 384 mosquitoes, including 271 Coquillettidia linealis. 'Low' numbers were collected at Medowie, Lakeside and Fern Bay.
