6/Apr/2004: Mosquito numbers remain well above average and continue to be at least 'high' in number, dominated by freshwater breeding mosquitoes such as Culex annulirostris. Gan Gan collected a total of 324 mosquitoes, including 92 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash trapped 784 mosquitoes, with 316 Culex annulirostris. Medowie yielded 807 mosquitoes, with 525 Culex annulirostris. Karuah collected 628, with 266 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae continues to trap 'very high' mosquito numbers, with a total of 2,450 including 1,191 Culex annulirostris.

31/Mar/2004: Mosquito numbers continue to be up and were 'high' to 'very high' from all sites. Gan Gan trapped 309 mosquitoes, with 103 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash collected 656 mosquitoes, dominated by 332 Culex annulirostris. Medowie yielded 194 mosquitoes, including 116 Culex annulirostris. Karuah trapped 472, with 405 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae trapped 'very high' numbers (1,131), with 298 Culex annulirostris.

23/Mar/2004: Numbers continue to up and 'high' or more from most sites. Gan Gan had the only 'medium' collection of 96 mosquitoes, with 33 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash collected 268 mosquitoes, dominated by 152 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded 138 mosquitoes, including 74 Culex annulirostris. Karuah trapped 499, with 336 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae trapped 'very high' numbers (3,351), with 2,250 Culex annulirostris.

16/Mar/2004: Mosquito numbers continue to be well up. Gan Gan had a 'medium' collection of 82 mosquitoes, with 33 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash collected 'high' numbers (563), dominated by 223 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie also yielded a 'high' collection of 276 mosquitoes, including 203 Culex annulirostris. Karuah's trap failed overnight. Heatherbrae again had 'very high' numbers (2,341), with 625 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

9/Mar/2004: Mosquito numbers continue to increase and were 'high' to 'very high' from all sites, with large collections of the saltmarsh mosquito, Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan collected 228 mosquitoes, with 67 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash trapped 620, with 465 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded 582, including 491 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah had a collection of 2,083 mosquitoes, with 1,970 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae trapped the largest number of mosquitoes, with a total of 3,213, including 2,141 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

2/Mar/2004: Mosquito numbers continue to 'high' at most sites. Gan Gan trapped 215, dominated by 99 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash collected 'medium' numbers (98), with 67 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded 115 mosquitoes, with 65 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah trapped 416, dominated by 373 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae continues with 'very high' numbers (1707), with 924 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

25/Feb/2004: Both Saltash and Karauh yielded 'high' numbers, wtih 686 and 642 mosquitoes respectively, dominated at both sites by Ochlerotatus vigilax (508 & 486). Medowie trapped 'medium' numbers (82), with 77 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan trapped 'low' numbers, while Heatherbrae had a trap failure.

17/Feb/2004: Mosquito numbers were down upon previous weeks. Gan Gan collected 'medium' numbers (99), with 27 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash and Karuah trapped 'low' numbers. Medowie had a 'high' collection of 109 mosquitoes, including 72 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae continues with the 'very high' numbers (1306), including 967 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

10/Feb/2004: Mosquito number continue to be up and 'high' to 'very high' from all sites. Gan Gan collected 427 mosquitoes, with 205 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash was down upon last week, but still trapped 397, including 334 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded 367, with 293 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah trapped 827 mosquitoes, with 739 Ochlerotatus vigilax. The highest collection this season was made this week, with 'very high' numbers (5172) from Heatherbrae, including 3163 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

3/Feb/2004: Mosquito numbers had increased substantially this week and were 'high' to 'very high' from all sites and strongly dominated by Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan trapped 299 mosquitoes, with 86 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash yielded 413, mainly (364) Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'very high' numbers (1479), with 1355 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah also had a 'very high' collection (1333), with 1250 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Likwise, Heatherbrae trapped 'very high' numbers (2396), with 1862 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

28/Jan/2004: Numbers were 'high' or greater from all sites nad dominted by Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan trapped 156 mosquitoes, with 47 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash yielded 692, almost all (675) Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'very high' numbers (1048), with 1002 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah collected 417, with 397 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'very high' numbers (1386), with 1210 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

20/Jan/2004: Mosquito numbers were down at most sites, although there were some large collections of Ochlerotatus vigilax. Gan Gan had a partial trap failure, collecting 'medium' numbers (86), including 41 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash also yielded 'medium' numbers (59), with 46 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'low' numbers. Karuah had a 'high' collection of 437 mosquitoes, strongly dominated by 415 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'high' numbers (707), also with a large number of Ochlerotatus vigilax.

13/Jan/2004: Mosquito numbers were 'high' or greater from all sites. Gan Gan collected 121  mosquitoes, with 47 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash trapped 311 mosquitoes, mostly (295) Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie had a similar collection, wtih 289 mosquitoes, including 261 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah collected 276, with 224 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae yielded 'very high' numbers (1,911), with 1436 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

6/Jan/2004: Numbers were up and 'high' from all sites. Gan Gan collected 212 mosquitoes, dominated by 96 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Saltash trapped 221, almost all (218) being Ochlerotatus vigilax. Like Saltash, the 158 mosquitoes trapped at Medowie, were virtually all (154) Ochlerotatus vigilax. The Karuah collection of 444 mosquitoes was dominated by Ochlerotatus vigilax (422). Heatherbrae had a partial trap failure, collecting just 177 mosquitoes, predominately (136) Ochlerotatus vigilax.

31/Dec/2003: Gan Gan had a 'high' collection of 129 mosquitoes, with 75 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash trapped 68 mosquitoes ('medium' densities), with 44 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'low' numbers. The collection at Karuah was dominated by (407) Ochlerotatus vigilax, yielding an overall 'high' collection of 407 mosquitoes. Heatherbrae yielded 'very high' numbers (1262), with 543 Coquillettidia linealis.

24/Dec/2003: Gan Gan trapped 'medium' numbers (89), dominated by 33 Coquillettidia variegata. Saltash also yielded 'medium' numbers (90), with 65 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie trapped 'low' numbers. A 'high' collection (172) was made from Karuah, dominated by 144 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae also had 'high' numbers (867), with 300 Culex annulirostris.

16/Dec/2003: Numbers were well up and 'high' from most sites. Gan Gan collected 192 mosquitoes, with 57 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash trapped 176, consisting mainly of Ochlerotatus vigilax (146). Medowie yielded a 'medium' collectionof 58 mosquitoes, with 30 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Karuah yielded 612 mosquitoes and Ochlerotatus vigilax (355) dominated the collection. Heatherbrae trapped 'very high' numbers (1385), with 500 Ochlerotatus vigilax and 319 Coquillettidia linealis.

9/Dec/2003: Mosquito numbers continue to be up upon the average and were 'high' form most sites. Gan Gan trapped 195 mosquitoes, with 92 Coquillettidia variegata. Saltash collected 102 mosquitoes, with 56 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Medowie yielded a 'low' collection. Karuah yielded 554 mosquitoes and Ochlerotatus vigilax (412) dominated the collection. Heatherbrae trapped similar numbers, with 561 mosquitoes, the main species being Ochlerotatus vigilax (295).

2/Dec/2003: Following the recent wet spell, mosquito numbers are well up this week and well above average, with two 'high' collections and the first 'very high' numbers of the season. Coquillettidia linealis dominated most of the collections. Gan Gan collected 'high' numbers (394 mosquitoes), with 214 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash trapped 'medium' (71) numbers, with 50 Coquillettidia linealis. Medowie yielded a 'low' collection. Karuah trapped 'high' numbers (226) and had 155 Ochlerotatus vigilax. Heatherbrae yielded the largest collection, with 'very high' numbers (1477), including 1103 Coquillettidia linealis.

25/Nov/2003: Mosquito numbers were down this week and around average, with most sites collecting 'medium' numbers. Gan Gan collected 83 mosquitoes, with 28 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash trapped 'low' numbers. Medowie had a trap failure. Karuah collected 71, unusally dominated by Culex molestus (60). Heatherbrae trapped 98 mosquitoes, with 49 Ochlerotatus vigilax.

11/Nov/2003: The first catch of the season yielded numbers that were well above average and 'high' from all sites, excluding Medowie, which yielded 'low' numbers. Gan Gan trapped 102 mosquitoes, dominated by 57 Coquillettidia linealis. Saltash collected 104 mosquitoes, with Ochlerotatus vigilax (62) being most commonly trapped. Krauah yielded 115 mosquitoes, also dominated by Ochlerotatus vigilax (78). The first collection from Heatherbrae yielded a massive 760 mosquitoes dominated by Ochlerotatus vigilax (347) and Coquillettidia linealis (344).
